We've recently been focusing more on our feet recently because happy feet = happy legs and hips. Check out the photo showing the location of the "Bubbling Spring" or "K1" acupressure point. This is associated with the Kidney meridian which needs some extra love in the land of Medallas and rum punches. Luckily the kidney meridian belongs to the water element in the five element system so some serious cleansing can happen.
You can work into this point by sitting down in supta baddha konasana/butterfly/cobbler pose or cross one ankle over the opposite thigh. When you curl your toes you'll see an indentation. This is your Bubbling Spring point. Press firmly in with your thumb going to your deepest point and then backing off slightly for 30-60 seconds. You can work on both feet at the same time if you're in butterlfy or one foot at a time if you cross the leg over. Repeat a few more times if you like.
A very powerful way to activate the K1 and Kidney meridian is to stand on a golf ball, rock or in the Barefoot Yoga P.R. studio an almond in it's full casing that has freshly fallen off of the tree. You'll want to find a comfortable stance that puts just the right amount of pressure on the K1 point. Visualize a freshwater spring bubbling up from deep within the Earth traveling up your legs, nourishing your reproductive, digestive and urinary organs all the way up to the lungs and heart area. Imagine the Earth's clean energy refreshing your body especially the kidneys and bladder. I like to imagine the clean springwater traveling up into my body and bringing all toxins back into the Earth and repeat until you feel fully refreshed and revitalized.
If your kidneys are deficient they can't ground the energy of the body and you may experience headaches, dizziness, insomnia, anxiety and hypertension. Since the Bubbling Spring is the first and lowest point of the kidney meridian, it has the powerful ability to ground energy.
