I finally started the Ayurvedic tradition of oil pulling and am amazed at the difference with just one week! It's quite simple: swish about a tablespoon of organic coconut oil in your mouth for 20 minutes and spit in the garbage. Rinse with warm salty water and voila you have a clean mouth. I like to use coconut oil not only because it tastes good but it also has antibacterial, anti-fungal and anti-viral properties. While I don't have any real dental or mouth issues, I've noticed much fresher breath, whiter teeth and an overall healthier feel. Others report benefits such as reduced cavity pain, helps with dry mouth, healthier gums, improved lymphatic system, decreased headaches, etc. I plan on staying with the oil pulling for at least the next month when I visit my father-in-law who is a dentist and will check back in on his findings.
